‘I never went to university’ – billionaire Folorunsho Alakija admits

One of Africa’s richest women and chairman of Famfa Oil, Mrs Folorunsho Alakija on wednesday revealed that she never went to a university, saying one does not need a university education to make it in life. Mrs Alakija said this while speaking with students of the University of Lagos during the 2014 UN International Youths Day in Lagos.

“I come from Ikorodu, Lagos state. I am married to a dashing young lawyer of 70 years of age and we have four grown up gentlemen and grandchildren. It has not been a rag to riches fairytale. It has not been an overnight phenomenon like some cases which you find here and there all over the world. For as long as I can remember, I had always wanted my own business. Hard work…am trying to tell you how I got to where I am if you want those billions. Hard work, diligence, persistence…days where you nearly gave up but I chose not to give up.”

It would have been easy to compromise but I chose not to and I stayed focus. I could have stayed a secretary as my father desired according to his plan for me but I had bigger aspirations. I dreamt big. God strengthened me and gave me wisdom. I had a passion and burning desire to succeed. Being a secretary, a banker, a fashion icon, a cooperate promoter and printer, a real estate owner, an oil magnate, that I can assure you was no easy feat. Firm belief that what is worth doing is what doing well or not doing at all. I took charge of my life with the tools I have shared with you. I chose to become born again at the age of 40. I chose to make a covenant with God that if he would bless me I would work for him all the days of my life. I chose to hold on to the cross and look up to him every step of the way. Today additional accomplishment includes a wife of almost 40 years, a mother, grandmother, ministry, counseling, outreach, NGO Rose of Sharon Foundation for widows and Author, writer, author of several inspirational books. All I say to the glory of God. So I am 63 and I am not yet done. So what is your excuse? I never went to a University and I am proud to say so because I don’t think I have done too badly. You do not have to have a University education to be able to make it so count yourselves privileged to have that education as part of the feather in your cap”

she said.

Pastor Oyakhilome’s wife files for divorce over alleges adultery?

According to The Cable, the dissolution of the marriage between Christ Embassy Church founder, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, and his wife, Rev. Anita Odegwa Oyakhilome, has entered the final phase.

The wife is seeking divorce on the grounds of “unreasonable behaviour” and “adultery”. She outlined several allegations against the pastor which cannot publish for legal reasons. The divorce case, with Suit No FD14D01650, was filed on April 9, 2014 at Divorce Section A, Central Family Court, First Avenue House, High Holborn, London, UK, on Anita’s behalf by Attwaters Jameson Hill Solicitors, a full-service law firm with expertise in commercial law and a strong consumer focus in family, wills and estate, personal injury law and medical negligence.

Efforts to reconcile the popular couple, whose church is one of the biggest denominations in Nigeria and has branches all over world, have failed. They have two teenage daughters, Sharon and Charlyn.

Oyakhilome is the president of Believers’ Love World Inc, the registered name of the Christian ministry, while his wife is the vice-president. The pastor, according to an elder of the church, has denied allegations of adultery and believes his wife is being influenced by “bad friends” who are intent on destroying their home. While Anita believes she has been relegated in the scheme of things in the church, her husband has reportedly accused her of trying to usurp power and authority above her seniors in the ministry. Sources told TheCable that the pastor had been making efforts to avoid divorce in the hope that the wife would eventually have a change of mind. However, the decree nissi was served on the charismatic pastor in his hotel room during a recent visit to the UK. Decree nissi, in legal terms, is like a yellow card in a football match which is a precursor to a red card (“decree absolute”) if no new evidence is provided to stall proceedings.
Church insiders said Oyakhilome had been hoping for rapprochement, but he was left with no option than to receive the papers when the lawyers cornered him at his hotel in London. The decree absolute, which will effectively end the marriage, is expected to be issued soon while terms of the divorce will be worked out by the lawyers on both sides.

Cameroon Fires Rockets Into Boko Haram Camps In Nigeria, Several Terrorists Killed

Less than 48 hours after Cameroon declared serious war on Boko Haram, the terrorists have fled the country en mass into the Nigerian soil.

According to AFP sources, 48 hours after killing 27 Boko Haram Islamists, Cameroon has once more killed many jihadists after firing several rockets into their camps inside Nigeria.

The source, who spoke to AFP, said the army had shelled the camp on Wednesday evening, two days after the jihadist group had seized control of the town of Gamboru Ngala on the border with Cameroon.“It was tanks stationed on the frontier at Fotokol (on Cameroon’s side of the border) that shelled the camp on the other side,”the source said on condition of anonymity.

“Seen from Fotokol this morning, Gamboru looks empty and smells of death,” he added. “Nobody knows how many Boko Haram members were killed, but it is obvious that many were.” The shelling was confirmed by a local police officer.

“These were abandoned houses that they have occupied since they entered Gamboru. We think they still control the town, because there are many of them and they didn’t all gather in the same place,”he said.

Fotokol had returned to calm by Wednesday following days of panic as residents and Nigerian soldiers fled there to escape the Boko Haram attack on Gamboru. Boko Haram has faced minimal resistance from the military as it has stepped up attacks across northeast Nigeria, where it wants to create a hardline Islamic state.

Why is the Nigerian military taking this issue of Boko Haram with levity…Are we out of rockets… Must Cameroon fire rockets first, where are our own ammunition.

This and many others confirm to us that top guys in the Nigerian military are the ones shielding Boko Haram.

Almost all the sophisticated weapons from the Nigerian army armoury have landed in the hands of the dreaded Jihadists.
Oh God, please deliver Nigeria.

Whoopi Goldberg Tells Donald Trump to “Do Your Homework” After Ebola Virus Comments

Donald Trump gets schooled! Whoopi Goldberg slammed the business mogul on The View Monday, Aug. 4, after he made what she called “dopey” and “idiotic” comments about those infected by the Ebola virus.

Two American missionaries—Dr. Kent Brantly and health care employee Nancy Writebol—contracted the potentially fatal infection after treating patients overseas in Liberia. They were promptly brought back to the U.S. where they are currently being treated in isolation under the eye of the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta, Georgia.

Trump, disgruntled that the Americans were even admitted back to the United States, took to his Twitter to lash out. “The U.S. cannot allow EBOLA infected people back,” Trump tweeted on Aug. 1. “People that go to far away places to help out are great-but must suffer the consequences!”

The topic was brought up again the following day by Trump, only this time he beseeched the U.S. government to hear his plea. “The U.S. must immediately stop all flights from EBOLA infected countries or the plague will start and spread inside our ‘borders.’ Act fast!” he wrote. “The fact that we are taking the Ebola patients, while others from the area are fleeing to the United States, is absolutely CRAZY-Stupid pols.”

Goldberg, noting that while she understood her pal Trump’s perspective, schooled viewers on the actual ways the Ebola virus is spread. “I’m not defending him, but he is also a friend of mine, so I don’t want to be disrespectful to him,” Goldberg said. “But that was a stupid comment.”

She explained that the virus “doesn’t’ carry in the wind” and is only spread through the mixing of bodily fluids. “Do your homework, Donald,” she said. “Just do your homework.”

Trump continued his rant this week. “The bigger problem with Ebola is all of the people coming into the U.S. from West Africa who may be infected with the disease. STOP FLIGHTS!” he tweeted.
